Modification of polypropylene mesh by titanium compound: An in Vivo and in Vitro study

Objective: Previous basic studies on the use of titanized polypropylene meshes in abdominal external hernia repair are not only limited, but also highly controversial. This study aims to investigate modification effect titanium compounds materials and compare performance two kinds both vivo vitro . Methods: Human peritoneal mesothelial cells (HMrSV5), human epidermal fibroblasts (HSF), monocytic (THP-1) were cultured simulate environment. Titanized (Ti) mesh (Non-Ti) co-cultured with respectively. The effects cell growth determined by activity apoptosis, surface was assessed using a scanning electron microscope confocal microscope. In experiments, different sizes placed between oblique muscle internal muscle, parietal peritoneum, serous layer descending colon, underside femoral nerve rabbits. evaluated observing anti-adhesion, anti-contraction, anti-fibrotic properties, nerves mesh. Results: Titanium effectively reduced material growth, improved fixation adhesion HMrSV5, HSF THP-1 (M0) meshes. Furthermore, adhesion, contraction fibrosis material, as well damage. improvement demonstrated regular trend type Conclusion: biocompatibility which conducive meshes, alleviated degree tissue fibrosis, influence nerves.
